Engineered Wood Flooring

Engineered wood flooring is a stable real wood floor, combining the warmth and beauty of solid wood flooring with the practicality of laminate flooring.

Engineered wood flooring is comprised of several layers of wood stuck together under extremely high pressure. A bottom layer, middle core layer and top wear layer, the bottom and core layer are generally made of plywood, occasionally HDF, then the top wear layer will be real wood. This construction makes for an extremely robust and stable wooden flooring option. One major advantage with Engineered flooring is the ease of fitting, the floor will either be a tongue & groove or clic/lock system and the recommended way to install would be as a floating floor over an underlay. The thicker wood flooring can be fitted directly over joists. Its a must to acclimatise your floor prior to fitting so aim to have your floor delivered at least 5 days before your fitting date. An engineered floor is also suitable for fitting over underfloor heating, just remember to use the correct underlay, we suggest the Quick Therm underlay and always follow the supplier’s guidelines. Engineered wood flooring will enhance the look in any room of your home, the only area we wouldn't suggest engineered wood flooring for would be bathrooms.

Engineered flooring is available from Green Apple Flooring in many different options with Engineered Oak Flooring and Engineered Walnut flooring being the most popular. You have a great choice when it comes to the size of the planks, narrow or wide plank options and also variable length and long plank boards available. There's also a wide choice of finishes in oak flooring with oiled, lacquered, stained and distressed floors all available. If you choose an oiled floor we would suggest a top up oiling when the floor is fitted, you'll find the Osmo oil on our accessory pages, this will be perfect for oak engineered wood flooring.

When it comes to hardwood flooring Engineered wood flooring is also the forest friendly option, using a fraction of real wood for the top wear layer compared to solid oak floors.

An Engineered wood floor gives you all the natural beauty of the real wood flooring top layer on a very stable and robust base giving you the perfect combination that will last for many many years.
