Brushed Wood Floors
Before finishing, the surface of the wood is brushed with abrasive rollers to remove some of the softer grain. This really does highlight the pattern in the grain giving a lovely, rustic natural looking texture and finish.
Hand Scraped Wood Floors
Often this finish is not achieved by hand, but with a machine that scrapes undulations into the surface. The texture gives the floor a rustic, distressed look and feel.
Oiled Wood Floors
The wood is impregnated with layers of specially designed oils that sink deep into the layers of the wood, protecting it from dirt and dust. The oil is more or less transparent, unless you choose to go for coloured oil.
Oiled floors require a little maintenance as they need oil re-applied every now and again, but are useful in that small areas of damage can be touched up without the need for major work.

Satin Lacquered Wooden Floors
The wood is coated with layers of lacquer which give the floor an even sheen that gently reflects the light. Day to day maintenance is very easy with this type of flooring. Just a light sweep and a quick wipe over with a dampened mop is all it needs to keep it looking good.
Matt Lacquered Wooden Floors
Matt Lacquer gives the floor a very natural look very similar in style to an oiled floor. The main difference between oiled and matt lacquer is that matt lacquer does not require the same periodic maintenance. All that is required is a quick sweep and wipe over. However unlike oiled floors, you cannot do small touch ups.
